Brooklyn Preschool is dedicated to strengthening child, family, and community development.

 We offer:

· Caring, experienced teachers

· High adult/child ratio (1:4.5)

· Parent involvement with their child’s learning & development

· Diversity- and respect-based curriculum

· Stimulating, imaginative learning environment

· Nursery for younger siblings

· Large, secure playground including new playstructure and sandpit!

· Children’s garden

· Large indoor play area for rainy days

· Parent education nights

· Fun family events

Children play, explore, and experiment with such items as: a touch table, a creative construction area, blocks, games, puzzles, puppets, gross motor skills equipment, a library corner, and a dramatic play area where the theme rotates monthly.

Teachers use art activities to help children see the possibilities of various art media. This enhances their creative spirit and encourages the development of their fine motor skills.

Circle time and snack time are a part of every day. During these times, children develop an awareness of community and learn appropriate and effective behavior within a group setting.

Our discipline approach is multi-tiered. First, we create an environment of respect for others. Second, we have structured the preschool so that the children can be self-directed in their play. Enabling children to make their own choices in play is a major factor in preventative discipline. Third, we teach individual problem-solving skills, therefore, further discipline is rarely necessary. When necessary, we implement a team approach including teacher, parent, and child.

Brooklyn Preschool encourages diversity among its membership and does not discriminate on the basis of national and ethnic origin.

We welcome visits! Please call for a tour to see our learning through play philosophy in action. We look forward to meeting you and your child as potential members of Brooklyn Preschool.
