Teacher Chrissy started teaching the Dragonfly Class in the fall of 2007. She received her M.Ed in Environmental Education and Early Childhood from the Univ. of Minnesota-Duluth, where she spent four years researching the social impact of unstructured play in natural areas. She was (and continues to be) attracted to Brooklyn Preschool because of it's philosophy of play as the quintessential learning medium for young children. Attempting to keep each day at the preschool unique, she works to incorporate her own original fiction stories, old folk songs on guitar, and her iPod. Chrissy lives in Southeast Portland with a couple roommates and her dog, Morton (who comes to visit the school in the spring during "pets month"). She enjoys commuting by bike, snowshoeing on Mt Hood, walking along the coast, and visiting various Portland Parks. After growing up in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and spending the majority of her life in the upper Midwest, she ventured to Portland in 2007 and loves it! Chrissy also works part time with the Environmental Ed Dept at Portland Parks & Recreation, where she teaches a nature preschool and coordinates day camps in the summer.
